1. Cleanscapes
Chris Martin reported pressure washing has started on Broadway and it will be 2-3 weeks before completion.
Chris has noticed a huge increase in cigarette butts in the gutters and on the sidewalks. He is trying to design a receptacle that is sturdy and one people will actually use.
There also have been complaints about poster removal. People do not want posters removed from the poles. However it is the policy of the BIA Board that poles be clear of posters. Chris asked if the BIA could provide a letter stating our policy. Michael will write a draft letter and send it to the BIA office.
2. Sally Clark
Council member Clark came to the meeting to introduce herself to the BIA. She wanted the businesses to know that one of her concerns was safety. She is also working on affordable housing, especially in the Capitol Hill area.
She is working closely with the Economic Development Committee. The committee is trying to decide what project will have the most impact on the revitalization of Broadway. She would like a briefing by the BIA Board on what is happening on the street. She also would like the Board to express the needs of Broadway to the Broadway Action
Revitalization Committee (BARC). Lisa Stewart will help draft a report.
